Chinese tenor Ding Yi and New Zealand soprano Hayley Westenra will perform at the Great Hall of the People singing both Chinese songs and Western opera arias. The orchestra of the National Ballet of China will accompany the singers under the baton of Irish conductor Derek Gleeson. Stage and videodesign create by the italian videoartis Stefano Fake. Award-winning violinist Li Chuanyun will play with the orchestra. Ding is considered one of China’s best tenors and is now based in Australia at the Sydney Opera House. Westenra, 26, is a crossover singer whose versatile range includes folk, pop and classical music. Beijing Performance and Arts Group are presenting the concert named Wonderful Harmony. The company will hold a series of concerts featuring artists from both home and abroad to tour the world under the Wonderful Harmony banner.

The Great Hall of the People (Chinese Name : 人民大会堂) was built in September 1959. It’s used for legislative and ceremonial activities by the People’s Republic of China and the Communist Party of China. The Great Auditorium of the Hall, with volume of 90,000 cubic meters, seats 3,693 in the lower auditorium, 3,515 in the balcony, 2,518 in the gallery and 300 to 500 on the dais.
